Feb 2 – after visiting Larnach Castle, we headed further north to see some beaches and hopefully, some wildlife.

First up, some seals…

Just when we were about to give up spotting some penguins, this little guy came out of the water. If you’ve watching too much Shark Week, no, that’s just a seal in the upper right!

Finished the day by having a beer and some fish and chips at the oldest continually operating brewery in New Zealand…Speights & Co.

And we finally saw an Albatross in the middle of town. Unfortunately, we never saw any yellow-eyed penguins.

Dunedin was my favorite city in New Zealand. Next up is the part of the trip that we are most excited about….the beautiful Fjords on the southern end of the South Island.
