Oct 16, 2019 UPDATE

On Oct. 6, my mother, Joan Johnson Pagano, passed away after a long illness. She was 89 years old and sharp as a tack mentally until the end. She went out on her own terms, and as best we could tell, totally at peace. We’re so grateful for that. She had a very heartfelt funeral service on a particularly sunny, autumn day. And as Mom requested, she was buried in a family plot in St. Mary’s, OH, alongside other relatives from my grandfathers side of the family. It was great to see so much of our family together at one time to celebrate Mom’s life. She’ll be in our hearts forever.

After the funeral, we traveled south and got a site at the Tanglewood RV Park near High Point, NC. It’s a fantastic 1100 acre park that was donated to the citizens of Forsyth County by William and Kate Reynolds. William was the brother of tobacco tycoon RJ Reynolds. There’s an RV Park, dog park, two great golf courses, the old manor house which is now a guest house, walking and biking trails, a small lake, and several out buildings that can be rented for events. They also have an annual drive-through Christmas light display that crews are working on setting up now. It’s really a pretty incredible place to have as a public park. I played Tanglewood’s Championship Course, the site of some past PGA Tour events, on Tuesday with a cart for $20!  But you have to be flexible to get those deals.

We spent a couple days shopping for a few furniture items for our new house in Wilmington, NC.  Nancy did some advance work with a decorator at a huge furniture store called Furnitureland South. That was a great idea on Nancy’s part and it really helped…..in two days, we were able to find and agree on most of the things we needed. Who’d a thunk!

Tomorrow, we head to Wilmington…..our RV site is at the US Navy RV Park in Kure Beach, NC.  We’ll be there for two weeks.
