Sept 22, 2019 – Newport Naval Air Station, RI
We decided to stay around home today, and spend tomorrow exploring Newport. Nancy (a.k.a. “Magellan”), took a ride to preview the area a little more while and I setup under Alice’s awning to watch football. I don’t really watch much pro football anymore…. but I still enjoy it every once in a while. Unfortunately, my favorite team, the Washington Redskins, have not gone beyond a first round playoff game for a long time. I live on the great memories from the 80’s and early 90’s when the ‘skins were such a great team, winning 3 Super Bowls in just 10 years, with 3 different quarterbacks. It was a hard fall to the bottom……but we’ll keep waiting for things to turn around.
By the time the games started, the sun was in a bad place for watching TV, so I finished yesterday’s blog post and watched the games inside. For the record, Nancy and I rarely watch TV only……if we have TV on, we casually follow the show while we are either reading or researching something on google.
Nancy’s short drive to Newport went right along the coast where all the old mansions are…..we’re talking BIG money. They make the coastal Maine mansions look like guest quarters! But both are spectacular coastlines……I guess even in the mansion class, everything is relative!
Unfortunately, the weather was overcast in Newport (it was sunny here just 10 miles away). We’ll go back and take the full tour tomorrow…..
Were loving our RV spot at the Navy base….
