Taken it easy….

Sept 20, 2019 – North Hampton, NH

We stayed around home today to relax and take care of a few things. Its great seeing so many nice places but we still enjoy some downtime (me more than Nancy).  Nancy took a walk along the North Hampton oceanfront and got some nice pictures, including some stately old mansions. And it was another spectacular weather day!

Met a really interesting older gentleman in the site across from us. He is a union crane operator that has been traveling all over the country (and also outside the US) most of his life operating construction site cranes on a contract basis. He said he was spending so little time there that it didn’t make sense to keep it. So he and his wife sold it, and then she decided not to keep him! So he moved in to the fifth wheel full time (which really wasn’t much of a change based on what he told me)The trailer started to have lots of problems so when he didn’t quite clear a bridge, and it took out his air conditioner and damaged the roof, he decided to junk it.  His current setup is a converted motorcycle trailer, with a homemade 2×4 frame on the side with a tarp roof that serves as the kitchen area. The trailer has tv, air conditioning and heat, and a double bed.  He had his own tv antennae at the top of a ladder leaned up against the trailer. (Chorus – C’mon listen to my story ’bout a man named Jed, kinfolks said barely kept his family fed. Then one day, he was….”).  But I have to say he had a very functional space….not pretty, but functional. I was impressed with his ingenuity, and his work ethic!.

This evening , we drove an hour to to Pelham, NH, to have dinner at the home of Nancy’s cousin Parvin, her husband David, one of their sons Thomas, and his friend Matt.  It was a pleasure to meet all of them….Nancy and I had a really fun time!  Parvin had prepared an amazing appetizer assortment, as well as an unbelievably delicious authentic Persian meal. Everything was absolutely delicious!  And to top it all off, they had a belated birthday cake for Nancy. Thank you to Parvin and David for such a memorable evening!

Here are a couple shots from Nancy’s walk with Frisco this morning…

What a great coastal drive….

Some very cool small cottages right on the ocean…..

Dinner with Parvin and David. These were just the main courses….there was also a fantastic spread of cheeses and wine, and other appetizers  The food was great but as always, it was the great company that made the evening so special.

Many thanks to Marvin and David for for an absolutely fantastic evening! The dinner was incredible and the birthday cake celebrating Nancy’s birthday made the evening even more special. It was great to also meet Thomas and Matt.
