Sept 11, 2019 – Booth Bay, ME

When we got up this morning, it was raining……it rained for another couple hours before it started to clear.  We actually considered  leaving today instead of tomorrow, but given the weather and the extra expense, we decided to stay. Nancy made a short trip into downtown Damariscotta to do a little shopping while I worked on a few things at home. Later, we relaxed and read, took a walk around the lake and campground, and had some had some of Nancy’s outrageously good chili for dinner.

While  we walked around the lake, Frisco had a great time chasing the ducks.  The ducks knew exactly how close to shore they could get and still escape, and I think Frisco knew she probably couldn’t catch them…..

Last, our thoughts and prayers today are with those that died, their families and friends, and those that that have been injured, as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on Sept 11, 2001. It’s hard to believe it’s been 18 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and the airline incident where some brave Americans heroes made sure their hijacked plane never made it to its intended target. It seems to me that on that day, life as we know it here in the US, and in many other places, changed forever. And overall, I’m proud of how the country has responded…..

Nancy saw this couple while they were stopped in Damariscotta and they chatted for a few minutes. The guy gave his wife a cross country bike trip for their 50th wedding anniversary!  How cool is that! They started on the coast of Washington state, and will end about a 100 miles north in Bar Harbor.  They said their mileage at the moment was 3880. Now that’s a lot of pedaling! Kudos to them for taking on and completing such an epic journey!

Frisco still think she can catch something with wings
