Sept 4, 2019 – Acadia NP
We got a fairly early start and headed to Acadia to hike around Jordan Pond. The weather was very overcast today but that didn’t stop the crowds that came into the park to hike one of the many trails, or bike on the Carriage Trail. The resort areas still seem to be pretty busy.
The Jordan Pond hike is a very popular, fairly flat 3.4 mile trail that goes around the entire perimeter of the lake. With our side trips, we ended up walking just over 4 miles. Jordan Pond is considered the cleanest lake in Maine and is the primary water source for Bar Harbor…..swimming in the lake is not allowed. The first half of the hike was a nice flat path that is close to the shore….the second half included walking over a path made of large rocks, which then transitioned to a log walkway through a more marshy area (but still close the lake shore). Its a very cool part of the hike. It’s amazing how much log trail had been built….we figured it was about a 1/2 mile long. Its a fairly easy hike if you have the balance to walk across some large rocks, and the fairly narrow log walkway near the end.
After the hike, we headed back home for lunch and then went to Ellsworth, a larger town about 12 miles west of Bar Harbor. We went to the LL Bean outlet store, ran a few errands and went grocery shopping. I didn’t see anything I needed from LL Bean but Nancy found a nice daypack for 40% off.
It got more overcast later in the day and by early evening we were getting some light rain. But it’s supposed to be beautiful by tomorrow am.

Na, I’m a stay here. All for today…
