First day in Acadia NP

Sept 3, 2019 – Acadia NP

Nancy took Frisco for a walk this morning to Frenchmen Bay, a beach next to the campground.  Generally, the more dirty Frisco is after a walk, the more fun she had. I’d say she had a great time chasing seagulls at the beach!

We went to over to Acadia National Park(NP) to start exploring/hiking. We saved the $30 entry fee by using my Senior Lifetime NP Pass! We took the loop road around the park to get a good feel for the layout of the park, and stopped at a few places to take a closer look at the scenery. We made a fairly long stop at a secluded cove area on the less travelled side of the park. It would be easy to miss it…..there were  only a few parking places on the side of the road. We were the only ones there until a small tour group showed up. We did some climbing on the rocks and got a few great pictures. As Nancy said,  “this cove is the quintessential Maine postcard!”.  I agree….it was absolutely spectacular!

Nice house!

We went to a small seafood restaurant and wholesale business right across from the campground for lunch. It came highly recommended by the campground. We had, by far, the best lobster rolls of the trip. They started with fairly thin lightly buttered and grilled bun stuffed with a lot of lobster meat. They were “out-of-this-world” good!

Bar Harbor and Maine seem very similar to Nova Scotia (or vice versa!) in terms of the rugged coastlines, general topography, and the unique way the trees and other plant life has adapted to grow in such rocky, harsh conditions.

All is good in Bar Harbor and Acadia! Nancy had been here once before…..but for me, this is my first time. And I have to say so far, it’s very impressive!

This scene must have been painted by somebody!

That’s all for today,
