A three province day

August 12, 2019

Today we got an early start for our trip to Nova Scotia. We were on the road by 9:30am.  We left PEI,  crossed over the confederation Bridge again (and paid a $61 toll!), passed through New Brunswick, and pulled into the Bras D’Or Campground in Nova Scotia at about 3:30pm. The campground is on Cape Breton Island, on the shore of the Bras D’Or Lakes., The lake area was recently designated a world UNESCO site and biosphere reserve. It should be a great central location for exploring Cape Breton Island.

“Sites on the World Heritage List are cultural, natural or mixed properties recognized by the World Heritage Committee as being of outstanding universal value. Biosphere Reserves are areas of terrestrial and coastal ecosystems which are internationally recognized within the framework of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme.”

I’m always happy to see the planets most naturally beautiful places protected and preserved for future generations. Examples of other places with similar designations include Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands and the Yellowstone NP in the US.

Tomorrow we start exploring!

Great morning coffee spot!

I think we’re really going to like this place! Should be plenty of opportunities for spectacular coastal pictures.
