Snowfall in Purgatory

10/10/2018 – Durango, CO

Nancy really likes her early morning walks….it was cold and rainy in Durango so this morning she took Frisco and drove about 20 minutes to Purgatory ski resort (she had heard they had snow). On the way up the mountain,  it started snowing. They had already received about 4-6 inches so the resort had a nice coating. She took a couple nice pics.

Nancy only saw a couple other people at the resort……Frisco had a ball kicking up the snow!

When Nancy got back, we headed into town to explore old downtown Durango area  and get some lunch and a beer. We ended up eating at a great place called  Steamworks Brewery.. We got back in time for the happy hour they have every night on the front porch of the owners office/house.  We met one of the owners and a few of the seasonal workers that were getting ready to leave in the next week or so. They were having a small going away party.  We enjoyed talking with the RV’ers that were working at the resort. They said this was a great resort, and one couple said they come back every year to work for a site. As we got ready to leave, the owner asked us if we  would be interested to work there next season. We thanked them but said we were pretty committed for at least the next couple years.

Starting tomorrow, we’re going to start working our way back towards Florida. We still aren’t sure which route but given the situation in Florida, we may go through Roswell and Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, then on to Big Bend NP in west Texas. Then we work our way back on the best route based on the weather and amount of damage on the FL panhandle.  We’ re just starting to see pictures of the coast and some area’s really sustained a lot of damage. It’s doubtful that the military RV resort we were hoping to stay at in Panama City will be operational, at least for a few weeks.

So from  here on out, we’re moving day-to-day based on where our interest and good weather takes us. Our plan is to be in Port Charlotte, FL Oct 30-31 to visit Nancy’s dad and brother and sister-in-law. We will then move over to Ft.Pierce, FL where we will be spending the winter.
