10/9/2018 – Albuquerque to Durango, CO
We left Albuquerque at about 10:30, and pulled into our spot at the Alpen Rose RV Park, in Durango, CO, at 3pm. We made a couple of stops along the way. It really felt like a fall day today when we got to Durango. The weather was very cloudy and chilly with some off and on rain and temps in the high 40’s, low 50’s. It was one of only 2-3 dreary days we have had since we left Dayton on July 6th.
We got to the Alpen Rose Resort near the end of their season…..they close Oct 31st for the winter. It’s a very nice resort…..great people and great surrounding views. They normally have a daily chuckwagon breakfast buffet and a Pizza shop in the evening but both have now been closed.
The Durango hotels are fairly full. Even though it’s starting to get cold (with some snow visible in the surrounding mountains), there are plenty of people in the city for the fall colors and a 52 mile mountain biking and running double marathon event this weekend. The bright yellow aspen trees really pop against the pine green backdrop.
We watched a couple TV shows and read this evening.
