New chairs, a trip to the Vet, and lots of rain

10/2/2018 – Camp Verde, AZ

Hurricane Rosa brought lots of rain today. Many of the dry creek beds along the road were filled with fast moving water but, as far as we know, there were no serious flash floods.

We drove to a warehouse to pickup our new recliners this morning and the heavy rain made the trip much slower. At times, the water just couldn’t run off the road fast enough. There was a semi that appeared to have run into a guard rail and a car that looked like it may have hydroplaned due to the excessive water on the highway……but neither situation caused a big backup. By the time we got to Phoenix and loaded the chairs, the rain was started to subside. We had a light drizzle for most of the trip back to Camp Verde, and a couple more short periods of hard rain this evening. It seems the worst is now over. We really didn’t get that much rain,  but last night, it seemed they were ready to deploy the National Guard in anticipation of a hole 1 inch of rain!

BTW, since we bought new chairs for Alice, we had to get rid off the stock theater seating. Nancy saw one of the maintenance people and asked if he knew anyone that might want to buy it for a bargain basement price. They checked with the park manager and decided it would be useful to put the furniture in their new library area.  They agreed to comp our 5 night stay in exchange for the furniture…plus they came and removed it. We were thrilled to strike that deal!

When we got back from Phoenix, we had to take Frisco to the vet. Yesterday, we noticed that she was continually licking an area on her foot and when we looked at it, we saw a red, swollen area. So we found a vet and took her in today. As it turned out, she had a sharp thorn imbedded on top of her foot. She’s doing great, but she isn’t too happy to have a bandage on her foot. Nancy took her for a walk tonite and put a plastic bag around her foot to protect it from all of the water on the ground. A few days of antibiotics and she’ll be “good as new”..
