Another great day in Sedona

We decided to go back to Sedona today since we really didn’t get much time to visit the many shops and art studios when we were here a couple days ago. We travelled down I-17 until we got off on the Red Rock Scenic Byway for the rest of the trip to Sedona.

Sedona is definitely a very cool and friendly town. Based on everywhere we have been, the city must have very strict zoning regulations. I don’t think we saw a single building over 2 stories, and a lot of the homes and commercial buildings are built “into the landscape” to protect all of the natural beauty in and around the community.  A lot of the buildings are painted to match the surrounding red rock. Most of the businesses in the old downtown part of Sedona are either restaurants, art/jewelry stores, or gift shops. There are also a lot of art sculptures around Sedona…..it’s obvious this is a very “artsy” area.

We had a mid afternoon lunch/dinner at The Cowboy Club Grille. We both had a steak dinner compliments of the Hyatt (it was part of the deal). After lunch, we walked around town shopping, looking at some art, and taking some photos. Everybody was very friendly. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last time we will visit Sedona.

On the way home, we stopped at a couple very nice scenic overlooks, as well as the Chapel of the Holy Cross, one of Sedona’s iconic landmarks.

In late evening , Nancy took a walk outside the RV park and captured some fantastic pictures of the horizon at sunset. There was just a little light peeking through the heavy clouds on the horizon and the conditions created a brilliant orange sky…..and you can see some of the initial rain showers coming in from Hurricane Rosa.
