Moved to Flagstaff

9/24/2018 – Flagstaff

Today we moved to Flagstaff, AZ and checked into the J&H RV Resort. It was only about 2 1/2 hour drive south.  J&H stands for Jean and Harvey….they have owned and operated the resort since they built it 1989.  I last visited  Flagstaff in the early 80’s. I had a business meeting in Phoenix and a group of us stayed after for a long weekend and went to Flagstaff, on to Las Vegas, and then back to Phoenix to fly home. And we went through Needles, CA, on the way back from Vegas to Phoenix. I still remember how hot and isolated it was. It was a great trip for me since I had not seen much of the western US before that trip. (BTW, I’m glad that “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”!

Like several of the other places I visited many years ago, Flagstaff has really changed…..it’s a much bigger city. There are lots of new buildings and the city has all of the big stores, conveniences and services of a good size city. But it still a very cool town.

We found a RV dealer in Flagstaff that was able to order the slide topper that broke, and also fix a couple other small problems. The parts will be here tomorrow and the installation will be done on Wednesday while we travel down to explore Sedona for the day. It seems all of dealers are swamped with service requests so we consider ourselves lucky to get taken care of so quickly. We left the RV at the dealer and headed to the old downtown area to get a sandwich and a beer. We  ended going to the Beaver Street Brewery where the food and beer were both very good.  From there, we went to a Verizon store to trade in Nancy’s phone for a iPhone X.  Then we went back to pickup the RV and get settled in at the RV park. We have a great site. It’s nice to be back in an area with trees.
