Canyonlands National Park

Today we had to move from the campground side of the RV resort to the resort/owners section. To be honest, the campground section is almost as nice as the owners/resort section ….the resort side just has more concrete for your vehicle and, in some cases, permanent gazebos or covered patio areas. We would have been just as happy staying where we were but when we made the reservations, they could not accommodate us for 7 days in a row in the same spot. No biggee…..we were packed, moved over, and unpacked in less than an hour.

Once we got settled, we headed to Canyonlands NP. What a great day (even if we did see the first clouds in days!).  The park was about 38 miles from Moab but with such beautiful scenery, it was a quick trip. After we got home around 5pm, we prepared a couple adult beverages and headed to the pool and hot tub. Later we had leftover brisket that was out of this world good.

I know it’s only been two 1/2 months but it seems like we have been gone longer…..I can barely remember being in the house.  I feel just as comfortable in this fifth wheel as I do at home in Springboro. And I have to say, we are enjoying the heck out this! I could easily see doing this full time. We have been surprised to meet so many folks that sold everything and hit the road. But the one thing we miss is our friends and family back home.

Schafer Trail Overlook

The road that weaves through these canyons is over 100 miles long, and it’s only for 4 wheel drive vehicles and mountain bikes. It’s very remote and very steep in  places. As usual, pics don’t begin to capture the splendor, and especially the depth, of this environment.

Mesa Arch

We got to know some of the folks patiently waiting in line for a pic at the arch. The Chinese tourists really held things up……each one wanted pics from every possible pose and angle!

Green River Overlook- the river offers serious whitewater in spring, and merges with the Colorado a few miles downstream
