Olympic Park

9/11/2018 – Park City

As I mentioned yesterday, the Park City Olympic Park really is a world class training facility. We learned that many other countries send their athletes here to practice and develop their ski jumping/aerial skills. We met the parents of one of the young men that was there training today. He competes in events around the world and had one second place finish at last years World Cup.  In the qualifying events for the last winter Olympics, he finished 6th on the US team but the team was limited to the top 4. So he’s working hard to try and make the 2022 Winter Olympics team. The video below shows one of his practice jumps. He was one of the few that was starting from the highest platform. Today, there were 15-20 people of all skill levels practicing.

The weather continues to be absolutely beautiful.  Lots of blue sky and moderate temperatures. Nancy took a bike ride uphill   into Park City this afternoon. I had to go pick her up when she got overly tired on the way back…..probably as a result of her lingering cold, and the affects of the high altitude. Park City sits at 7000 ft.

We took Frisco for a walk in the mountains behind the RV resort and settled in for the night.
