Nancy’s trip to Virginia

8/28 – 8/30, 2018 – Bozeman/West Yellowstone

I haven’t posted for a few days because I took Nancy to the Bozeman Airport Tuesday so she could fly to DC to attend her brother-in-law’s (Bob) funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. It was a very impressive military funeral, and the family was joined  by many friends they had met over their years. Afterwards, everyone gathered at the Ft. Meyer Officers Club for refreshments and to talk about all the good times they had shared together.

Bob and Marianne (Nancy’s sister) worked in Germany and raised their two boys (Nick and Tim) there until they transferred to northern Virginia so their sons could go to high school and college in the US. Bob retired from the AF (and after that, civil service), and Marianne retired from the Army civil service. About 3 years ago, they moved to a warmer climate in Wilmington, NC.

Over the past couple days,I did a few projects in and around the RV, did a little hiking with Frisco, and also continued shopping around for a new fly rod and reel. There are some excellent fly shops in West Yellowstone with all of the best equipment. It’s a tough decision given so many high quality products. So I ended up doing some side by side test casting in a nearby park area with my 3 “finalists”, and decided to purchase  a G Loomis rod and a Galvin reel. Looking forward to fishing with it soon.

I’m looking forward to picking up Nancy tomorrow morning at the Bozeman Airport. Before we head back to West Yellowstone, we plan to spend a little time exploring the old downtown area of Bozeman. We will be back inside the park on Saturday and plan to spend as much time as we can there before we head to Jackson Hole and the Tetons for a few days next Tuesday.  No pics except Frisco on a nice trail you can access directly from the RV Resort (it’s also a designated pet walk area). It’s connects to a major trail system and you can walk as little or as far as you want to. It’s also used for snow mobiling in winter.
