Movin’ on to West Yellowstone (and a buffalo in a bar)

8/25/2018 – West Yellowstone

Left Rocky Mountain RV Resort in Gardiner, MT, and headed south, to the Grizzly RV Resort in West Yellowstone. I would say this is one of the top 3 resorts we have stayed in. Everything is very neat and clean, and the sites are very spacious with lots of trees. The drive down past Big Sky Ski Resort and along the Madison River was really beautiful. The fishing along the Madison and Gallatin is really good right now…..the fish are slamming any kind of dry fly, but especially terrestrials.  Can’t wait to get to the rivers to try my luck.

We are situated right on the edge of town so everything is close by. We rode our bikes around to check things out and then went to The Buffalo Bar for dinner.  It is a very cool place with lots of animal heads mounted on the walls and a full size stuffed buffalo in the middle of the restaurant. It has a very warm cozy feel and you could tell there were a lot of locals eating there.  We split buffalo  lasagna and pork tacos. Both items were outstanding but if we could do a “do over”, we would both get the buffalo lasagna. It was soooo good! We’re here for 10 days so I’m sure we will be eating there again before we leave the area.

Sometimes when we first wake up, we have to stop and remember where we are. When you are moving around so much, it’s easy to forget. And it’s hard to recall where certain events happened , or where specific sites you remember were located……everything just kind of runs together This blog will be helpful when we want to look back and reminisce about this trip in the future.

Calling for snow at elevations above 6500 ft on Monday. We’re sitting at 6600 ft. The high temp Monday here in West Yellowstone is only supposed to be 46 degrees! But it’s back in the 60’s the rest of the week. It’s all good.

The Buffalo Bar and the evening sunset. This is some of the taxidermy on display…..there was a lot more.
