Takin care of business…

8/9 and 8/10, 2018

We took Phil back to the airport on Thursday and spent the rest of the day doing a few things around the RV. We picked up some good veggies at the local farmer market, did the laundry and went to Kalispell to pick up some other supplies at Costco and Lowes.  Its been nice to just take it easy for a couple of days. We plan to wash the outside of the RV later this evening (Friday).

The California fires, combined with the heat the last few days, has really impacted the air quality and visibility. When looking up at the surrounding mountains, everything looks very hazy.  A mild cool front is coming through this weekend and that is supposed to cool things off into the mid 80’s. (and hopefully bring some much needed rain). We’re hoping it will also clear the air a little. We plan to go back into Glacier NP this weekend, and maybe do a downhill mountain bike ride.  Hope to get some more good pictures.

The spot below, which is close by and just a few miles outside the main west entrance into Glacier, brings back some great memories. My best friend Steve and I took a motorcycle trip to Glacier NP and Yellowstone 20+ years ago and met a lady filling up water jugs at this location (we stopped for a brief rest and to get a drink of water). We struck up a conversation with her and she told us about her relatives that had crossed over these rugged mountains many years ago to help settle the area. We were so captivated by her stories that we actually asked her if we could briefly video her while she talked. She was happy to do so…..I still have that tape.
