Didn’t fish or play golf today. Nancy and I drove about 1 1/2 hours south to a town called Cranbrook. It’s a bigger town than anywhere else we have been since Calgary. We spent some time in a fly fishing outfitter, St. Mary’s Fly Shop, where I confirmed there were no guides available. However, I got a license and a good recommendation on a place to fish between Cranbrook and our site in Radium Hot Springs. We ate lunch and had a beer at a great local brewery and headed back. On the way home, we checked out the fishing spot and then stopped and walked around Invermere, a popular tourist town situated on the shores of Lake Windermere. On the other side of the highway is Panorama, which is major ski resort. The resort includes 2,847 acres of skiable lift-served terrain. It also has one of the largest vertical drops in North America at 4,019 feet. In terms of continuously skiable vertical drop, it ranks 5th behind Revelstoke, Whistler Blackcomb, Jackson Hole, and Kicking Horse. It has also hosted World Cup ski events.
As they used to say on Looney Tunes, “that’s all folks”…..
