Canyons, peaks, and holes!

8/16/2018 – Somehow, I lost my post for July 28, which was a fantastic day for Nancy and I. So I am doing my best to recollect the day and put it back into our blog.  My regular post for 8/16  will be posted tonight.

Today Nancy hiked Johnson Canyon and Tunnel Mountain (overlooks the golf course and the town of Banff) and Lake Minnewanka while I played golf at Banff Springs Golf Club.  I’m glad I was playing golf because I’m not sure I could have kept up with Nancy on those hikes. I was lucky enough to be paired with a really nice couple from Peoria, Arizona……Denny and Lanna. Denny played great even though he had a major back ailment  just before he arrived in Banff. And Lanna hit nearly  every shot straight and was a deadly putter. I don’t think she 3-putted a single green. And Lanna shared cigars with Denny…..how cool is that! It was an absolute joy to play with them.

I had a rough nine holes at Silvertip on Thursday and for whatever reason, it continued today. But that’s golf. And thanks to  Denny and Lanna, I still had a lot of fun..Nancy met us in the clubhouse after our round and we had a drink together.  It was another great day.  We were going to go to The Wood again for dinner but we decided to stay home and cook.

We had a pretty significant storm when we got back to our RV but we kinda like the sound of the rain on the roof. There wasn’t a lot of wind and it ended within about a 1/2 hour and got sunny again. The last pic below shows the RV park after the storm, including the Three Sisters mountains in the background.

We had a great day!
