Pyramid Lake, Pyramid Bench, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Today we hiked around the Pyramid Lake area, including Pyramid Bench, which is the mountain ridge overlooking Jasper. We also visited the Fairmont Jasper Lodge. This resort is one nice address!  The hotel, cabins, and other surrounding buildings overlook Lake Beauvert. It was first established in 1915 and now includes 446 rooms and 5 restaurants…..but the design makes it seem much smaller. The entire property is extremely well manicured. They offer a lot of activities……so once you get there, you really never have to leave the property. Besides the spectacular views, there are lots of trails that cover the woods and several lakes on the property. The golf course is the number one rated course in Canada and the setting below the mountains is absolutely stunning. They also offer horseback riding, canoes, paddle boards,  tennis courts, guided tours, a heated pool, and a spa.  And the service at the hotel was fantastic. We really enjoyed sitting on the lodge deck and eating an appetizer and drinking a beer after a long hike. Once again, the pics are beautiful but they just can’t capture the splendor of the mountains set around some of the most beautiful and clean lakes and rivers we have ever seen…..it’s just so darn pristine!

Nancy’s shoulder is better today. Still tender but it’s starting to loosen up a little.

We decided to leave this area a couple days early so we will be heading to Canmore tomorrow morning. It’s about 4 hour drive. This will be our base for exploring Banff and Lake Louise. Once we get setup, I will drive into Calgary to have a new wheel put on my bike (see earlier posts about how it got damaged).

We can only hope that the rest of our trip is this amazing. It’s hard to adequately describe just how beautiful this area is……this has to be mother nature at her best!  We will not be posting many pics until we can get a good wifi connection. Posting pictures uses a lot of data when not using wifi!

I’ll leave this uptown your imagination…….
