Today we drove about 304 miles to Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, SD. The scenery finally got much prettier. We saw The Badlands and arrived at our site at about 2pm……and just like Day 1, someone was in our site! We worked it out and moved to the only other open site in the park. When we first stopped at the park we discovered that one of the bike carrier brackets had loosened and my bike was resting against the back of the RV. I guess I didn’t have one of the tire holders properly secured. Never happened before but this trip seems to be bringing out the best in me. Luckily it didn’t falloff while I was driving 65 mph and they only damage was a couple more scratches on the trailer. If I don’t get better at operating this rig, by the time we finish this trip, this rig is going to look like it just got back from a war zone!
The good news is this park is a great place to stay. We have access to all of the AFB amenities. We’re heading to the Firehouse Brewery in Rapid City for a beer and some food before hitting Walmart for a few items we need. It’s nice to finally be parked somewhere for a few days.
